Sweet Pea Hummus

Peas aren’t just for babies. They contain a unique assortment of health protecting phytonutrients and vitamins. Peas are a very balanced food rich in protein, starch, and healthy sugars. They are also considered to be one of the most environmentally friendly foods as they are nutritious for soil. If you can’t find fresh peas you can use frozen.


  • 2 cups peas (if frozen, thaw)
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Sea salt and pepper, to taste Water, as needed to blend
  • Process all ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Add water as needed to

    make a smooth consistency. Serve this on a romaine leaf and top with sprouts for an easy hummus “wrap.” Or serve with crudités as a dip.
