How can U.S. money be used to measure items around the house?

All U.S. paper currency is 6 1/8 inches wide by 2 5/8 inches long. The diameter of a quarter is approximately one inch. The diameter of a penny is approximately three-quarters of an inch. So if you want to measure the length of your pencil, simply line up some coins and begin measuring!
