Why do people beg for money and push grocery carts around town?

In the United States, millions or people are hungry or homeless. Many people do not have the necessary amount of money to live each month, some do not live in homes or apartments, and some do not have jobs. A grocery cart may carry all of their belongings. Some people are too ill to work and don’t have money to afford a house or apartment. Being homeless means that a person does not have a place to live. It might be for a day or two or for many weeks or months. The person (or family) might live in a shelter with a lot of other people, or in a car, or have no structure surrounding them. Homelessness is not necessarily permanent and often people just need some help to get settled again.
