Find the Remote

When your child isn’t looking, hide the remote control somewhere in the TV viewing room. (It is likely she will be so engrossed in the show that she won’t notice your subterfuge.) Let your children know that whoever can find the remote gets to shut off the TV and receive some small reward. If you have only one child, have her try to beat her personal best.
