Before having children, you might have said, “My place is a mess” when there were a couple of dishes in the sink. Now, “My place is a mess” means that there are toys everywhere, the dirty breakfast dishes are making friends with the dirty dinner dishes, and the dirty laundry is threatening a revolt. Have reasonable expectations—homes with small children will always be a little dirtier and a little more cluttered. The trick is: How can you engage your children to be a part of the solution?
