pre-diet plan

getting started

Although it might be very tempting to jump straight in and get juicing, please bear in mind that some preparation is needed especially if you smoke, drink caffeine and alcohol, eat junk food and take medicine at the first sign of discomfort.
CUT IT OUT!

For a week before starting the diet, cut out the following:

  • Coffee and tea
  • Alcohol
  • White bread and bread products
  • White rice
  • Refined sugar
  • Salt
  • Fizzy drinks
  • Bottled cordials and juice ‘drinks’
  • Sweets
  • Chocolate
  • Margarine
  • Sweet biscuits and cakes
  • Crisps and salted nuts
  • Canned fruit and vegetables
  • Processed meat products such as burgers and sausages
  • Sugary cereals
  • Sweet fruit low-fat yogurts
  • Ice cream and ice-lollies
  • White pasta
  • Pre-packaged convenience meals
  • Sauces and gravy mixes
  • Take-away foods such as pizza and Chinese

Stripping these things from your diet can cause withdrawal symptoms that may cause you difficulty. But with the correct preparation, this can be minimized.

In order to promote weight loss, this diet will have a detoxifying effect on your body. This will renew and refresh you, but can cause various side effects as your body rids itself of the toxins that have been keeping you bloated and overweight. As the toxins work their way out from your tissues into the bloodstream you could experience some of the following common detox symptoms: spots and rashes, headaches, body odour, bad breath, nausea, runny nose, diarrhoea or constipation, flu-like symptoms, slight depression or mood swings. Reactions will differ greatly from person to person as not everyone is affected equally due to differences in body chemistry. How well we metabolize (break down and get rid of) foreign chemicals depends on our genetic ability and on the extent of the environmental burden of chemicals challenging us.

Even though you may think that you have a healthy diet, toxins aren’t just produced by food and drink. Your body will rid itself of any unwanted chemicals, including the chemicals from your own metabolism or that enter your system from the air you breathe, the food and water you consume, substances you put on to your skin or use to treat your hair, or toxins and allergens produced by the germs that inhabit your intestine. But, a few days preparation can minimize any negative side effects, making it easier for you to stick to the plan and maximize your weight loss.
