Hip Hop

Who are some influential hip hop artists?

Kool DF Herc, Jamaican-born, who was a deejay in the South Bronx, has been called the pioneer of hip hop. A generation of singers who came of age in the 1980s, such as Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, and Lauryn Hill, are examples of earlier artists. Others include Public Enemy and Queen Latifah.

Mary Jane Blige has been called the “Queen of Hip Hop Soul.”
