Who was the first black student to graduate from the University of Alabama?

The first black student to graduate from the University of Alabama, on May 30, 1965, was Vivian Malone Jones (1942–1995). In 1956 Autherine Lucy (Foster) (1929–) was the first black student enrolled in the university. Malone along with another black student, James Hood (1943–2013), had to be escorted by the National Guard to register.
