Do the eyes grow like other organs?

Unlike most other organs, the eyes do not grow very much from infancy to adulthood. The average diameter of the eyeball is about 0.68 inches (17 millimeters) at birth and 0.84 inches (21 millimeters) in adulthood. However, since new lens fibers are produced throughout life, the thickness of the lens varies with age. At birth, the thickness measures from 0.14 inches (3.5 millimeters) to 0.16 inches (4 millimeters), and at age 95 it may be 0.19 inches (4.75 millimeters) to 0.20 inches (5 millimeters) thick.
