Uterine contractions that are neither regular nor persistent are false labor. Oftentimes in false labor the contractions may stop when the mother walks or even shifts positions. The contractions in true labor become stronger, more frequent, and do not cease. Once true labor begins it will continue until the fetus is delivered.
