How does the definition of “overweight” differ from “obesity”?

Both “overweight” and “obesity” describe ranges of weight that are greater than what is generally considered healthy for a given height. An objective measure of these terms is based on body mass index. An adult with a body mass index of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight. An adult with a body mass index greater than 30 is considered obese.
