How many different types of synovial joints are found in the body?

There are six different types of synovial joints, which are classified based on the shape of their articulating surfaces and the types of joint movements those shapes permit. The types of synovial joints are gliding or planar joints, hinge joints, pivot joints, condyloid or ellipsoidal joints, saddle joints, and ball-and-socket joints.
