How much blood is lost during menstruation?

Approximately 1.2 to 1.7 ounces (35 to 50 milliliters) of blood is lost during menstruation. In addition to blood, degenerating tissue cells from the endometrium of the uterus are also lost. They are replaced during the next uterine cycle.
