Major Plasma Proteins |
There are three major plasma proteins. Plasma proteins are produced by the liver, with the exception of gamma globulins, which are produced by lymphatic tissue or tissues.
Type | % (by Weight) | Function |
Albumin | 60 | Important in maintaining osmotic pressure |
Globulins | 36 | Alpha, beta—transport proteins; gamma—antibodies released during immune response |
Fibrinogen | 4 | Blood clot formation |
