Organization of Muscles

What are some muscles named as a result of the action produced by the muscle?

The name of many muscles also includes the type of movement or action that they bring about. The flexors of the wrist and fingers are examples of flexion (from the Latin word flex, meaning “to bend”) by decreasing the angle at a joint. The adductors of the thigh pulls the limb toward the midline. This type of movement is called adduction (from the Latin word ad, meaning “to” or “toward” and duct, meaning “lead”).
