What are the areas of the cerebral cortex and their functions? |
The cerebral cortex is divided into three functional areas: 1) sensory areas, 2) motor areas, and 3) association areas. The sensory areas receive and interpret sensory impulses. The motor areas control muscular movement. The association areas are involved in integrative functions such as memory, emotions, reasoning, will, judgment, personality traits, and intelligence.
