What are the parts of the external ear?

The external ear is the visible part of the ear. It consists of an outer, funnel-shaped structure called the auricle (pinna) and a tube called the auditory canal that leads inward for about 1 inch (2.5 centimeters). It ends at the eardrum (tympanic membrane).
