What is a bronchoscopy?

A bronchoscopy is a direct visual examination of the larynx and airways through a long, flexible viewing tube. A bronchoscope can be inserted through the mouth or nose and extended into the lungs. It can also be used to collect tissue and fluid samples. Bron-choscopy can help a physician make a diagnosis and treat certain medical conditions.
