A muscle cell is packed with filaments of actin and myosin. Less abundant, but no less important, is a protein called dystrophin. It literally holds skeletal muscle cells together by linking actin in the cell to glycoproteins (called dystrophinassociated glycoproteins, or DAGs) that are part of the cell membrane.
