What is farsightedness? |
Farsightedness, or hyperopia, is the ability to see distant objects but not close ones. It is a disorder in which the focal point is too far from the lens, and the image is focused “behind” the retina when looking at a close object. In this condition, the lens must thicken to bring somewhat distant objects into focus. Farsightedness is corrected by a convex lens that causes light rays to converge as they approach the eye to focus on the retina.
