What is the function of the ductus deferens?

The ductus deferens (from the Latin deferre, meaning “to carry away”), also called the vas deferens, carries sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct. It is only 16 to 18 inches (40 to 45 centimeters) long, much shorter than the epididymis, and it has a larger diameter.
