Which cells and tissues are most affected by human growth hormone?

Human growth hormone, sometimes called just growth hormone (GH), affects all parts of the body associated with growth. The skeletal muscles and cartilage cells are especially sensitive to the levels of growth hormone. One of the most direct effects of growth hormone is to maintain the epiphyseal plates of the long bones, where growth takes place.
