Which structure connects the spinal cord to the brain?

The medulla oblongata connects the spinal cord to the brain. The medulla oblongata regulates autonomic functions, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion, and automatic functions, such as respiratory rhythm. It relays sensory information to the thalamus and to other portions of the brain stem.
