Which vein is usually used to collect blood?

Fresh blood is usually collected from the median cubital vein (inside the elbow) in a procedure is called venipuncture. If only a small amount of blood is needed, the tip of a finger, an ear lobe, the big toe, or heel (in infants) are common areas for a pinprick.
