What skin cells are involved with the immune system?

Keratinocytes, found in the epidermis, assist the immune system by producing hormone-like substances that stimulate the development of certain white blood cells called T lymphocytes. T lymphocytes defend against infection by pathogenic (disease-causing) bacteria and viruses.
