What is a cromlech?

Translated from Celtic, the word “cromlech” means “circular place” and refers to a circle of standing stones. Cromlechs are either circular or semicircular arrangements of megaliths. There are many theories about the function of these large-scale Neolithic sites, including the idea that they served some kind of religious function; however, like the menhir alignments in France, cromlechs remain a mystery.
