Art Principles and HistoryForm and Style |
What is style? |
The style of a work of art is the distinctive way in which it has been formally arranged. Style can also refer to the way in which a work of art is characteristic of the work of a specific artist, and the time period (or the geographical location) in which it was created. For example, a painting by Vincent van Gogh can be instantly recognizable because of its distinctive style. Van Gogh is known for paintings that feature bold colors, thick application of paint, and noticeable brushstrokes.
