How was the Huygens probe configured?

The Huygens probe was mounted on the bottom of the Cassini orbiter, on the side opposite the high-gain antenna. It was a 700-pound (320 kilogram), four-foot-wide, saucer-shaped vehicle, equipped with a multiple-parachute landing system and six scientific instruments.
