Radio waves are electromagnetic waves whose wavelengths are longer than about 0.01 meters. On Earth, radio waves can be used for communications, such as for radio or television broadcasts. In the cosmos, they are produced in large amounts by strong electromagnetic fields, fast-moving charged matter, or even by clouds of interstellar hydrogen gas.
