Some well-known atmospheric Cherenkov systems include VERITAS (Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System), located at the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory on Mount Hopkins, Arizona; the Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes (MAGIC), a pair of telescopes that work in tandem on La Palma in the Canary Islands; and the High Energy Stereoscopic System (HESS), a set of telescopes situated in the Khomas Highland of Namibia.
