Star Evolution

What is stellar evolution?

Stellar evolution is the term used to describe the aging process of stars. The theory of stellar evolution is broad and complicated, and is one of the most important ideas in all of astronomy. It is remarkably analogous to the study of aging in humans: we are born, go through immature stages, then are mature for a long time, and then undergo further and final changes toward the end of our lives, until we finally die.
