What were considered to be NASA’s four Great Observatories in space?

The original set of NASA’s four Great Observatories in space were the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO), the Hubble Space Telescope, the Chandra X-ray Observatory, and the Spitzer Space Telescope. Since their deployment years ago, many additional “great” observatories have been launched, modeled after the success of these four missions.
