Old Testament

The Pentateuch

Did Joseph have any children?

Yes. He had two sons. Mindful of God’s guidance and protection, Joseph named his sons with names that honored God. The first born was name Manasseh, whose name means “God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house.” The second son was named Ephraim, whose name means “God has made me fruitful in the land of my misfortunes.” On his deathbed, Jacob adopted Manasseh and Ephraim as his own children.
