The Pentateuch

Did the Egyptians recapture the Israelites?

No. According to God’s instructions, Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. God drove the sea back using a strong east wind. A dry path formed between two great walls of water. The Israelites and all of their livestock passed through on dry ground. When the Egyptians started on the dry path, God collapsed the two walls of water, drowning the Egyptians in the re-formed sea. “And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses,” (KJV, Exodus 14:31) The promise God made to Abraham centuries ago started to come to visible fruition. The covenant between God and his people grew stronger.
