Did the Israelites honor their promise to spare Rahab and her family?

Yes, they did. After that, “the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.” (NIV, Joshua 6:27) A woman by the name of Rahab is listed in the genealogy of Jesus in the first chapter of Matthew. It is not known for a certainty, but is widely accepted that the Rahab in the genealogy is the same one who was the prostitute in Jericho. One indication that the Rahabs are one and the same is that in the genealogy Rahab married an Israelite named Salmon. Caleb, a contemporary of Joshua and Moses, had a son name Salmon. (I Chronicles 2:51)
