Nicodemus thought about what Jesus said in literal, concrete terms: “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” (NLT, John 3:4) Jesus replied with yet another puzzle: “The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.” (NLT, John 3:5) Jesus referred to baptism and accepting the Holy Spirit.
