It begins with a conversation between Daniel and the king. The king asked Daniel why he did not worship Bel. Daniel replied, “Because I do not revere idols made with hands, but the living God, who created heaven and earth and has dominion over all living creatures.” (NRSV, Bel and the Dragon, Verse 5)
