Apocrypha

How does the book of Tobit end?

The book of Tobit ends with the death of Tobias at 117, living in peace and prosperity with his family in Media. This all came about because just before Tobit died, he advised Tobias to take Sarah and their children, leave Nineveh, and go back to Sarah’s parents in Media. Tobit warned Tobias, “For I believe the word of God that Nahum spoke about Nineveh, that all these things will take place and overtake Assyria and Nineveh. Indeed, everything that was spoken by the prophets of Israel, whom God sent, will occur.” (NRSV, Tobit 14:3–4)
