The Vulcan salute occurs when a person raises his/her hand and forms the shape of a “V” with the ring finger and the index finger. An ancient Hebrew sign still used today occurs when a Jewish priest spreads out both of his/her hands, thumbs touching. The priest creates a V-shape between the ring finger and the index finger on both hands. Both hands positioned like that create five distinct spaces. Usually, the priest accompanies the sign by saying the Aaronic, or Priestly, Blessing: “May the Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
