U.S.-based couture designer Monique Lhuillier revealed her Bible-inspired line the spring of 2011. With the Garden of Eden as her inspiration, Lhuillier designed a score of elegant garments. Hand-painted flowers, garden colors, and airy fabrics prevailed. One blue formal was trimmed in silky, pleated petals, suggesting either water or a rare flower. Another formal was red—as red as a ripe apple—and featured untold yards of wispy red fabric in its skirt. The garments are made with such fine materials and such expert craftsmanship that it is not unusual for Lhuillier’s gowns to sell for thousands of dollars each.
