Excited? The Bible does not say. Stunned and reluctant? Yes. Moses rattled off excuses. Who was he, Moses, that he could go before Pharaoh requesting the freedom of slaves? What if the Israelites did not believe him? How could he speak for hundreds of thousands of people when he was “slow of speech and of a slow tongue?” (KJV, Exodus 4:10) Each of Moses’ objections was met by God with reassurance and proof of his presence. God empowered Moses with awesome proofs of divine power. Moses had to convince not only Pharaoh, but the Israelites as well. Once again, God showed an inclination for calling an unlikely person to do something marvelous.
