Wisdom and Poetical Books

What are some of the definitive verses from the book of Lamentations?

“Judah has been led away into captivity, afflicted and enslaved. She lives among foreign nations and has no place of rest. Her enemies have chased her down, and she has nowhere to turn.” (NLT, Lamentations 1:3).

“The LORD is in the right, for I have rebelled against his word; but hear all you peoples, and behold my suffering; my young women and young men have gone into captivity.” (NRSV, Lamentations 1:18).

“For the LORD will not reject forever. Although he causes grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; for he does not willingly afflict or grieve anyone.” (NRSV, Lamentations 3:31–33).
