Gospels and Acts of the Apostles

What did Jesus say about John the Baptist?

Jesus said, “This is the one about whom it is written, ‘See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’” (NRSV, Matthew 11:10) Also, Jesus pointed out the hypocrisy of some of the church leaders because they disapproved of John and Jesus: “For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon;’ the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’” (NRSV, Matthew 11:18–19)
