Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before the Israelites. At that moment, Moses had God on his side. From among the people, however, Moses had only Aaron, Joshua, and Caleb on his side. Joshua and Caleb pleaded with the people, “The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.” They continued, “Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.” (KJV, Numbers 14:7, 9) At that, the Israelites threatened to stone Joshua and Caleb.
