What did the Philistines do with the Ark?

They put it in their temple for Dagon, the Philistine god of grain. The next day, the Philistines discovered that the statue of Dagon had fallen down before the Ark, so they stood it back up. The next day, the Philistines discovered that the statue of Dagon had fallen down before the ark again. This time, Dagon’s head and hands lay dismembered on the threshold.
