What does the name Isaac mean?

Isaac means “he laughs.” Isaac was named that because Sarah laughed when she overheard God tell Abraham that even though she was old and passed the age of bearing children, she would have a child. God questioned Sarah, “Is anything too wonderful for the Lord?” (NRSV, Genesis 18:14)
