The Bible and Archaeology

What is archaeology?

Archaeology is the study of past cultures through the examination of physical aspects—in whole or in part—of that culture. Such aspects include buildings, tools, jewelry, textiles, documents, and burial sites. As a science, archaeology has existed only since the middle of the nineteenth century. The field evolved from a trendy, sometimes slapdash, hobby of the wealthy into a circumspect, disciplined field of study.
