What is the book of Hosea about?

In the book, Hosea criticizes the social and religious wrongs that were rampant in the Northern Kingdom of Israel before the Assyrians conquered it in 722 B.C.E. Though Hosea began by focusing on Israel, by Chapter 5, he included the Southern Kingdom of Judah as well.
