What is the book of Joshua about?

The book of Joshua relates the conquest of Canaan and the allotment of the land to the Israelite tribes. It is widely believed that the events in Joshua took place between 1400 B.C.E. and 1200 B.C.E.. While the book gets its name from Joshua, it is not known who wrote the book.
