Written by Jews and Christians between 200 B.C.E. and 200 C.E., this is a broader category of writings than the Apocrypha, because it includes not only the writings of the Apocrypha, but other writings as well. No Western churches accept these books as canonical, though some Eastern churches do. As a whole, these writings are significant because they demonstrate some of the religious and social influences that took place in the centuries between the Old Testament and New Testament.
